Why Get Two Higher Education Certificates?

Regarding immigration to Canada, it is based on the score you own for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). It means the more items you fulfill, the higher CRS score you will attain. Once you have scored the minimum requirement of the Provincial Nominee Program, you will be invited to the general draws.

Getting two higher education certificates grants you more scores than you might believe. Whoever owns a Doctoral or Master degree will be counted full marks 150 or 135 respectively. And a double degree or two-certificates man comes next with a high score of 128/150. But that is not only the case, let’s say when you finish the EAP and you started your bachelor in Royal Roads University.

Extra Score in Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)!

Owning a graduated bachelor’s degree will grant you 120 scores but owning one in a Canadian University will give you a total of 150. Besides, the English For Academic Purposes (EAP) Level 6 upon graduation will give you a total of 86, there is one more item in the score called Skill Transferability Factors, your IELTS result with your bachelor’s degree will generate 26 more scores. So in sum, a score of 262 is earned upon this English for Academic Purposes Certificate & Pathway.

1 Year of NOC 0AB Employment Experience

When the academic part is settled, everything left for boosting scores is by earning work experience in Canada. Normally, people choose to follow Canadian Experience Class, Federal Skilled Worker, or Federal Skilled Trades in order to score higher for CRS.

Canadian Experience Class might always be the easiest way for youth to fulfill the requirement, you will only need to provide 1-year work experience in National Occupational Classification (NOC) 0AB category of jobs, 0 is a managerial job (e.g. financial managers), A is a professional job that requires a degree from a university or above (e.g. doctors, journalists or musicians), B is the job which usually requires specific skill sets (e.g. photographers or chefs)

In case every requirement is fulfilled, the only thing you may need to check is whether you score above the minimum CRS draw score, and see which item can get you more scores. For the recent CRS score distribution of candidates in the Express Entry pool as of March 28 in 2022, most numbers of candidates scored between 451 to 500, but the CRS score of the lowest-ranked candidate invited is 785.

The score is forecasted to get higher in the foreseeable future so you should always get ready earlier, as age could also be your fatal flaw in the CRS system.
