Student Wellbeing and Safety Guidelines

Create Career College is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all students, faculty, and staff. We aim to provide a supportive environment that prioritizes student mental health, safety, and wellness.

General Wellbeing Support

  • Counseling Services: Confidential counseling is available to assist with stress management, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. We are here to support you in every step of your academic journey.
  • Health Insurance Guidance: We provide guidance to help students access health services and understand their coverage.
  • Mental Health Awareness: We offer programs and workshops to increase awareness and provide tools for coping with stress and emotional challenges.

Mental Health, Addiction, and Overdose Support

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, addiction, or overdose issues, help is available. We encourage you to reach out to the appropriate resources for support. In British Columbia, you can find a range of services to assist with these concerns through BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services. They offer confidential support and resources for individuals facing these challenges.

Remember, seeking help is an important step, and you don’t have to face these issues alone.

Campus Safety and Hygiene Measures

At Create Career College, we have developed a set of health and safety measures to ensure the well-being of all individuals on campus. These measures are designed to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for everyone.

Step 1: Assessing Risks on Campus

We assess the potential risks to health and safety at the workplace by considering factors such as person-to-person transmission and surface contamination. Areas where staff and students gather, as well as shared tools and equipment, have been identified to implement necessary precautions.

Step 2: Implementing Safety Protocols

  • First Level Protection (Elimination): Staff will work remotely whenever possible to minimize contact. Classrooms and common areas have been adjusted to ensure sufficient space for physical distancing.
  • Second Level Protection (Engineering Controls): Barriers, such as plexiglass, will be installed where physical distancing cannot be maintained. These barriers will be cleaned regularly.
  • Third Level Protection (Administrative Controls): Staff and students are required to maintain physical distance, and hand sanitizers are provided throughout the campus. We encourage the use of personal dishware or disposables to reduce shared surface contact.
  • Fourth Level Protection (PPE): Masks are mandatory for all individuals entering the campus and will be provided if necessary. Masks must fully cover the nose and mouth.

Cleaning and Hygiene Practices

We maintain regular cleaning schedules, and staff are responsible for cleaning their workspaces. Posters displaying proper hygiene practices, such as handwashing and mask-wearing, are placed throughout the campus to ensure everyone follows safe practices.

COVID-19 Guidelines (Updated)

We have updated our COVID-19 policies to continue prioritizing the health and safety of all staff and students while adhering to public health guidelines.

Step 3: Health and Symptom Monitoring

  • Staff and students will be temperature checked upon entry to campus.
  • Anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19 will be prohibited from entering.
  • International students returning from outside Canada will follow a mandatory self-isolation protocol.

Step 4: Communication and Updates

We have implemented clear communication through posters, emails, and updates to ensure that everyone is informed about the necessary health protocols. Supervisors and staff are responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance.

Step 5: Outbreak Response Management

In the case of a COVID-19 outbreak on campus, we have appointed Sophie Miao, Director & CEO, as the outbreak response manager. All necessary steps, including contact tracing and notifications, will be carried out in accordance with guidelines provided by the Public Health Authority.
