This advanced French course is designed for students who have a solid grasp of the basics and are eager to significantly enhance their fluency. Emphasizing the expansion of vocabulary, refinement of complex sentence structures, and the development of confidence in everyday conversations, the course offers a dynamic and immersive learning experience.
Led by engaging instructors, students will engage in interactive lessons within a French-speaking environment, utilizing exercises, quizzes, and instructor-provided online materials to deepen their linguistic proficiency and cultural knowledge. By the course’s end, students will be well-prepared for the TEF/TCF exams.

Linguistic Objectives

Expected Effort
Students are expected to commit approximately eight hours per week during the regular term, which includes attending classes and completing coursework and revisions. For intensive classes, this weekly time doubles to approximately sixteen hours to accommodate the accelerated pace of learning.
Text Book
The course uses “Grammaire Progressive du Français Débutant 3e Édition+CD” as its core textbook. All the course materials will be provided by the instructor.
Course Format
This course is offered online via Google Classroom, in-person at the Metrotown Campus in Burnaby, or in a hybrid format.
- The online option provides a virtual classroom experience that is interactive, with access to course materials available post-course, paired and group work.
- The in-person classes are held at the Metrotown Campus in Burnaby.
- The hybrid format offers flexibility, allowing students to choose to attend either in-person or online sessions based on their preferences or circumstances.
Assessment
Student progress is evaluated through in-class and after-class assignments, as well as quizzes and mock tests provided throughout the course. Feedback is given verbally during class sessions to support real-time improvement, and assignments are marked to provide clear indicators of performance and areas for growth. By the end of the course, students will be well-prepared for the TEF/TCF exams.
