This beginner level French course is designed for students starting their French language journey. It focuses on building a strong foundation in French by teaching familiar, everyday expressions and simple statements to meet concrete needs.

Intermediate French Course (A2 - B1 )
This intermediate level French course is designed for students who have mastered the basics and want to enhance their fluency. The focus is on expanding vocabulary, improving sentence structures, and developing confidence in everyday conversations.

French Language Course Levels – What You’ll Achieve
Beginner Level (Beginner to A2)
Communicative Objectives
Introduce yourself, greet others, and identify yourself.
Tell time and discuss dates.
Give and ask for personal information (e.g., phone number, address).
Describe your family, friends, and immediate environment.
Speak about your daily routine and everyday actions.
Express your tastes, preferences, and interests.
Order in a restaurant, make reservations, and accept or decline invitations.
Ask for and give directions.
Linguistic Objectives
Master pronunciation and phonetics.
Conjugate regular -ER verbs and key irregular verbs (être, avoir, faire) in the present tense.
Use personal pronouns (je, tu, il/elle, etc.) and possessive adjectives (mon, ton, son, etc.).
Form questions using question words (qui, quoi, où, etc.) and question methods.
Understand singular, plural, masculine, and feminine forms.
Use basic negation (ne…pas) and prepositions of place (à, dans, sur, etc.).
Learn adverbs of quantity and frequency (beaucoup, souvent, etc.).
Practice courtesy expressions (s’il vous plaît, merci, etc.).

Course Details

1. Expect Effort:
Attend classes for three hours each week. It is expected that it will take an additional three hours to finish coursework and revise.

3. Course Format:
This course can be taken online with Zoom, in person at the Metrotown Campus in Burnaby, or in a hybrid format.
4. Technology requirements:
A device such as a computer or a tablet is necessary. It must be equipped with both a video camera and a microphone.
