This course is designed for individuals with little or no previous knowledge of French, offering an engaging introduction to the language. Through interactive lessons led by engaging instructors, students will immerse themselves in a French-speaking environment, building confidence in basic conversational skills for everyday scenarios, such as discussing self, family, and work.
The learning approach incorporates exercises, quizzes, and mock tests to reinforce progress, with online materials provided by instructors to support practice outside of class. By the end of the course, students will be equipped to handle practical communication tasks with ease.

For those seeking an accelerated learning experience, the 4-day intensive classes offer a condensed, immersive format that delivers the same comprehensive curriculum as longer courses in a focused timeframe. Designed to rapidly develop foundational French skills, these classes provide an engaging, high-energy environment where students dive deep into language essentials.
Through interactive lessons, practical exercises, and personalized feedback, participants build confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Ideal for learners eager to quickly master French.
* After six months, students will be prepared for the TEF/TCF exams and achieve a B2 proficiency level.

Communicative Objectives
- Introduce yourself, greet others, and identify yourself.

Linguistic Objectives
- Master pronunciation and phonetics.
- Conjugate regular -ER verbs and key irregular verbs (être, avoir, faire) in the present tense.
- Use personal pronouns (je, tu, il/elle, etc.) and possessive adjectives (mon, ton, son, etc.).
- Form questions using question words (qui, quoi, où, etc.) and question methods.
- Understand singular, plural, masculine, and feminine forms.
- Use basic négation (ne…pas) and prepositions of place (à, dans, sur, etc.).
- Learn adverbs of quantity and frequency (beaucoup, souvent, etc.).
- Practice courtes expressions (s’il vous plaît, merci, etc.).

Expected Effort
Students are expected to commit approximately eight hours per week during the regular term, which includes attending classes and completing coursework and revisions. For intensive classes, this weekly time doubles to approximately sixteen hours to accommodate the accelerated pace of learning.
Text Book
The course uses “Grammaire Progressive du Français Débutant 3e Édition+CD” as its core textbook. All the course materials will be provided by the instructor.
Course Format
This course is offered online via Google Classroom, in-person at the Metrotown Campus in Burnaby, or in a hybrid format.
- The online option provides a virtual classroom experience that is interactive, with access to course materials available post-course, paired and group work.
- The in-person classes are held at the Metrotown Campus in Burnaby.
- The hybrid format offers flexibility, allowing students to choose to attend either in-person or online sessions based on their preferences or circumstances.
Assessment
Student progress is evaluated through in-class and after-class assignments, as well as quizzes and mock tests provided throughout the course. Feedback is given verbally during class sessions to support real-time improvement, and assignments are marked to provide clear indicators of performance and areas for growth.

At the end of the course, the teacher will evaluate each student’s abilities individually through mock tests and quizzes to determine if they are ready to progress to the intermediate or more advanced level.
